HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT CIFF?

It’s time to start bringing Festival champions together. If you’re passionate about movies and believe that having a leading festival of the cinematic arts right here in Calgary is essential, that’s you.

Since our founding in 1998 and our first festival in 2000, CIFF has grown to be Alberta's largest film festival, an important catalyst for economic growth, and a hub for engagement between filmmakers and fans.

CIFF is both a registered charity and a not-for-profit arts and culture organization operating 365 days a year. It relies on support from individuals, Film Circle and ClubCIFF patrons, corporate festival sponsors, and a network of several hundred volunteers. The price of your ticket covers less than one-third of the cost of putting on the festival because what we do is fundamentally different from commercial cinema.

By showcasing cinema from local and international filmmakers, the festival allows audiences to engage with diverse perspectives and stories, creating a place for the community to come together through meaningful conversations. As a pillar of Alberta’s arts and culture scene for over 20 years, we are committed to increasing Calgary’s cultural vibrancy, promoting volunteerism, encouraging youth education and cultivating new talent by dedicating at least 25% of feature film programming to first and second-time filmmakers.

CIFF also seeks to empower young people through the arts. In the last five years, CIFF has brought the magic of film to 5,000+ students across Calgary! We've achieved this through Generation Next, our youth-focused film program featuring a line-up of international movies curated and endorsed by local high school students.

CIFF also accepts online donations when purchasing passes and ticket through our online ticketing system.

Calgary International Film Festival Society is a not-for-profit organization, and a registered charity (Charitable Registration Number: 864856927RR0001).
