CALGARY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL’S FUNDRAISING EVENT “A RED CARPET AFFAIR” GIVES YOU THE CHANCE TO WIN $20,000

The 91st Oscars® are only weeks away and the Calgary International Film Festival invites you to be part of the celebrations at the annual Fundraising event – “A Red Carpet Affair” on Sunday, February 24th at 4:30pm. Tickets are available now at www.calgaryfilm.com

Walk the red carpet at the Palace Theatre and watch the awards ceremony LIVE on the big screen whilst indulging in culinary delights from restaurants including ANJU – Korean food with a modern twist from award winning chef Roy Oh, GORO + GUN’s contemporary Japanese cuisine including Sushi, Ramen and Teppanyaki as well as Calgary favorite The National.

Amidst the celebrations and feasting, party goers also have the chance to win up to $20,000 with this year’s Trophy Game. Each Oscar nominee has been allocated an Oscar Trophy which attendees can purchase for only $25. Everyone’s a winner as each trophy has a prize - from a Pair of tickets ($30) to a 20-ticket bundle to Calgary International Film Festival 2019! If that isn’t enough, should your nominee win an Oscar, they will get the chance to Crack the Code of the Vault on stage. If you Correctly guess the 5-digit code, you will win $20,000!  

The fun continues with A Red Carpet Affair’s Prediction Ballot as guests pit their predictions and go up against Calgary International Film Festivals Artistic Director – Brian Owens. The Oscars Prediction winner gets TWO passes to the 2019 Film Festival and if they manage to beat Brian’s predictions their prize is doubled to FOUR passes to the festival. In the event of a tie, contenders will put their Oscar knowledge to the test as they go head to head live on stage.

Coinciding with our Oscar-Nominated Shorts Screenings at Globe Cinema, the Silent Auction star experience, will see renowned interior designer Jerilyn Wright give a home makeover consultation! The Silent auction will stay open online until 9pm on Sunday, February 24th. Other items also up for auction include:

The 91st Oscars® will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network in the United States and the CTV Television Network in Canada.  The Oscars→ also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide

OSCAR-NOMINATED SHORTS SCREENINGS

Calgarians are also invited to prepare for “A Red Carpet Affair” by watching this year’s Oscar®-nominated short films the weekend of February 15-17, 2019 at the Globe Cinema.  The screenings give Calgarians a chance to join audiences around the world in enjoying this year’s section of shorts and predict their winners.

The nominated shorts will screen as follows:

  • Friday, Feb 15 at 6:30 p.m. - Live Action Shorts - DETAINMENT / FAUVE / MARGUERITE / MOTHER / SKIN

  • Saturday, Feb 16 at 6:30 p.m. - Animated Shorts - ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR / BAO / LATE AFTERNOON/ ONE SMALL STEP / WEEKENDS - PLUS A SELECTION OF ADDITIONAL ANIMATED SHORTS: Wishing Box / Tweet Tweet
