MOONLIGHT, MARTIN STARR & JOHNNY MA COME TO CIFF

CIFF has added another movie to the 2016 roster, bringing the total count of films in the festival this year to 211. MOONLIGHT, directed by Barry Jenkins, with Brad Pitt, Sarah Esberg, Tarell McCraney on board as executive producers, screened most recently at the Toronto International Film Festival to excellent reviews.

“It’s getting tons of Oscar buzz, and we wanted to be able to provide the film for our audience,” said Brenda Lieberman, Programming Manager, Calgary International Film Festival. MOONLIGHT screens October 2 at 7:15 pm at Eau Claire Cinema.

CIFF has also confirmed that SILICON VALLEY and FREAKS AND GEEKS star Martin Starr will be in attendance at our September 23 screening of OPERATOR. Other confirmed guests at the festival include Sandra Oh (WINDOW HORSES), Kim Nguyen (TWO LOVERS AND A BEAR) and Henry Phillips (AND PUNCHING THE CLOWN). Also attending CIFF is Johnny Ma, who just yesterday took home the First Canadian Feature Award at TIFF. Ma will be at the September 29 screening of OLD STONE and will be joining us for an In Conversation about Filmmaking Abroad.
