CIFF ANNOUNCES OPENING GALA SPECIAL GUESTS

Aug. 28, 2014 – Acclaimed Canadian actor Callum Keith Rennie will join co-stars Kyle Catlett, Jakob Davies and Niamh Wilson (Degrassi: The Next Generation) at the Opening Gala screening of The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet on Sept, 18 at the Jubilee Auditorium.

Rennie started his acting career on stage in Edmonton and has gone onto star in dozens of films, including Hardcore Logo, eXistenZ and The Butterfly Effect. He’s a familiar face to both Canadian and American television audiences, having appeared in such series as Californication, The Killing, Battlestar Galactica and Due South.

In addition to the Opening Gala guests, CIFF is pleased to welcome Vancouver filmmakers Grant Baldwin and Jennifer Rustemeyer, who will attend the Green Carpet screening of their critically lauded documentary, Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story on Sept. 22 at The Globe Cinema.

Daryl Sabara (Spy Kids, Weeds), Annie Clark (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and writer-director Blaine Thurier will be on hand at The Globe Cinema for the Sept. 25 Black Carpet Gala featuring the black comedy, Teen Lust.

Finally, Calgary director Jeremy Thomas will attend the Closing Gala screening of his latest film, Ally Was Screaming, alongside stars Charlie Carrick, Giacomo Baessato and Camille Sullivan at the Theatre Junction GRAND Sept. 28.
