Anticipated Busy Shows
If advance tickets are sold out, try your luck with the rush line. A rush line will form one hour before the show start time for the opportunity to purchase last minute tickets. While there is no guarantee that seats will become available, we always try to get in as many people as possible from the rush line.
The Calgary International Film Festival programmers spend the entire year scouring the globe to find the best films to bring to Calgary audiences. They have highlighted a few of those treasures each day, so that you won't miss your chance to connect with filmmakers, guests or those hard to find films that may only screen at our festival.
When Mackenzie Davis won the Best Actress Award at Tribeca this year, the jury called her performance "unapologetic, fierce, brave, compelling, and vulnerable. She and Caitlin Fitzgerald, drive this story that evokes the best Brian DePalma films.
KISS AND CRY
Director Sean Cisterna returns to the festival with a drama based on the true story of an Olympic-hopeful figure skater that develops a rare form of cancer. She inspires through her hope and tenacity as she creates YouTube videos and sings at hockey games.
This sweet and funny film premiered at Tribeca under the title GEEZER. It stars Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong in his first lead role.
Stunning photography plunges viewers into an unforgiving world populated by twin mini-luchadores and prostitutes. A startling addition to the oeuvre of Arturo Ripstein, director of NO ONE WRITES TO THE COLONEL.
