THROUGH INDIAN EYES A FIRST NATIONS VIEW OF THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS

THROUGH INDIAN EYES - A FIRST NATIONS VIEW OF THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS

Runtime 60 mins

This is a free BEHIND THE SCREEN event

Julian Black Antelope hosts this panel with the intention of discussing the challenges and opportunities unique to First Nations filmmakers. How far have we come from the days of tinted pancake makeup on Caucasian actors in spaghetti westerns? Has the profile of #IdleNoMore done anything to advance the role of storytellers and artists from their community? Julian’s own journey from behind the scenes on some of Alberta’s biggest westerns to producing, writing and starring in lead roles in high-profile film and TV projects will be discussed, along with those of some of our most well-known and up-and-coming Indigenous and Metis creators.

Moderator - Julian Black Antelope (actor, THE PADRE, KNUCKLEBALL)
