Based on the novel by Emily M. Danforth, Director Desiree Akhavan’s (APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR) adaptation is a witty, original, coming-of-age teen story. After Cameron Post (Chloë Grace Moretz, LAGGIES, KICK-ASS 2) is caught with another girl in the back seat of a car on prom night, she is quickly shipped off to a conversion therapy centre that treats teens “struggling with same-sex attraction.”
While subjected to outlandish discipline, dubious “de-gaying” methods, and earnest Christian rock songs, Cameron's unusual setting also provides her with an unlikely gay community. For the first time she’s able to find her place among fellow outcasts.
