Based on the lives of three iconic blues musicians – pianist Pinetop Perkins, guitarist Hubert Sumlin and drummer Willie “Big Eyes” Smith – SIDEMEN: LONG ROAD TO GLORY is the biographical story of achieving success and recognition in the musical world. Scott D. Rosenbaum (THE PERFECT AGE OF ROCK ’N’ ROLL, CODA) brings the stories of these inspirational musicians to the big screen through heartfelt commentary by artists such as Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Gregg Allman (Gregg Allman Band) and Elvin Bishop. In some of their last interviews together, the trio outlines their experiences as "sidemen" to the well-known blues prodigies Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters, as well as their time on the road touring. They demonstrate that passion and determination can overcome difficulty on the road to success.

With stunning images of the men performing, recounting of their childhoods in the south during the Jim Crow days, and a sweeping score by Fabrizio Grossi that exhibits the diversity and soul of the blues genre, Rosenbaum’s movie truly pays tribute to these musical masters.
