Director Josh Locy in attendance at the screening on September 24!

When he’s released after three years in prison, Ashley Douglas (Andre Royo, THE WIRE) figures everything should 'fall into place'. His friends should come to his welcome home party (they don’t). His girlfriend, Linda, should greet him with open arms and open legs (she doesn’t). So, staring down the barrel of his mid-40's, Ashley restarts his life with next to nothing: no friends, no lovers, no connections. All he has is a bedroom in his mom’s house, a box of treasures he buried in his back yard, and a nostalgic and deeply ingrained need to be with Linda, his one true love. That is, until he meets a new friend, Jeremy, and things start to turn around.

Josh Locy's directorial debut features one of the most dynamic performances of the year, as fan favourite Royo sinks his teeth into this very meaty leading role – delivering a tour-de-force performance that deservedly won him a Best Actor award at this year's SXSW.

A deftly balanced mix of drama, comedy, and pathos, HUNTER GATHERER is an utterly beguiling tale that proves you're never too old to start over.
