Theo Fleury made millions as an NHL superstar. But he betrayed people who loved him, and threw his money away on booze, drugs, gambling and strippers. Theo was trying to the dull the pain of a terrible childhood secret, but his fame, fortune and partying left him empty inside. He hit bottom and considered suicide before finally getting sober.

In 2009, Theo wrote a book revealing that, as a teen, he'd been sexually abused by his coach. It created a firestorm of publicity and went on to become a #1 bestseller.

Playing With Fire, the documentary, follows Theo as he travels North America promoting his book, competing in a reality skating show and making motivational speeches. From the New Mexico desert where he nearly ended it all, to a Chicago crack house, to Madison Square Garden where management wants nothing to do with him.

Through compelling interviews with teammates, coaches, his family, his biographer and Theo himself, the film provides an intriguing character study of one of the most controversial players in NHL history.
