The quirky, nostalgic NEW LOW is a comedy-drama about Wendell, a deadpan neurotic twentysomething trying to figure out his dating situation. He is torn between two extremes—the worst girl he has even met and the best. The former is Vicky, who has felt the need to point out Wendell’s skinniness, thin lips and receding hairline from the start of their relationship. The other, Joanna, is the kindly social worker and activist who Wendell met at the video store where he works.
Having his first feature premiere at Sundance was a great success for Adam Bowers, who wrote, directed and stars in NEW LOW. Shot on a shoestring budget with borrowed equipment, a steady crew of two and the generous help of friends, NEW LOW is full of unique characters and memorable scenes. It will make you question what makes a good relationship, and who are we making our decisions for.
