When Mark Hogancamp survives a severe beating outside a small town bar only to have his rehabilitation cut short by his medical insurance provider, he retreats into a fantasy world of his own design called Marwencol—a 1/16 scale Second World War-era village where not only can he work to refine his motor skills, he can exact revenge on the men who nearly killed him. The twist? His wrongdoers are 18-inch dolls dressed as Nazis.

MARWENCOL follows both Mark and his alter ego (also named Mark, a U.S. Army captain) through the daily intrigues of life in his model Belgian town—a town inhabited only by women—where he runs a “cat fighting bar” to entertain “soldiers” passing through. The meticulously crafted and photographed storylines take the real Mark outside of his manufactured world and into another world nearly as bizarre: the art world.
