Sam’s (Lawrence Michael Levine) summer gets thrown completely out of whack when his younger sister, Gabi, comes to live with him in Brooklyn as a way to help overcome their parent’s divorce. A young, naive, jobless wannabe performance artist, the trouble-making Gabi manages to turn Sam’s world off kilter.

When Sam gets too caught up in his own personal life and neglects his little sister, her ways of getting his attention and getting him back start to get a little out of control. Gabi starts making out with his free loading, couch-surfing best friend, won’t get a job, and manages to stay nude most of the time while experimenting with art and whip cream.

Described by the filmmakers as a portrait of young New York and the misguided hopefuls who can’t afford to live there but do anyway, GABI ON THE ROOF IN JULY is the second feature film from director Lawrence Michael Levine, and is a quirky, character-driven sex-comedy with a stellar ensemble of actors.
