RACER AND THE JAILBIRD

Racer And The Jailbird

(Le Fidèle)

Year 2017
Runtime 120 mins

Race car driver Bénédicte and gangster Gino fall in love in a world that desperately wants to keep them apart.

Belgian director Michaël R. Roskam (BULLHEAD, THE DROP) returns in full force with his third feature film, RACER AND THE JAILBIRD. Set in the seedy dark side of modern Brussels, we follow speed addict Bénédicte (Adèle Exarchopoulos, best known for her star-turning role in BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR) - a race car driver, and Gino (Matthias Schoenaerts, RUST AND BONE), a high-stakes gangster with a taste for the finer things in life. Falling in love with reckless abandon, their smouldering romance encounters trouble quickly as Gino's nefarious lifestyle begins to catch up to him, threatening everything that they have. Now they must struggle against all odds to prove that their love is worth saving.

With exotic engines on display, intense on-screen chemistry between its stars, and constantly rising stakes and tension, this action-packed "amour-noir" thriller is like GONE IN 60 SECONDS with GONE WITH THE WIND at its core - a classic love story, wrapped up in fight scenes and fast cars.
