The Lobster

Year 2015
Runtime 118 mins

In a very different type of heartbreak hotel, lonely people gather hoping to find their perfect match. But it’s not just their future happiness that's at stake.

In the latest film from controversial DOGTOOTH and ALPS director Yorgos Lanthimos, if these unlucky singles can't find a mate within 45 days, they are turned into an animal of their own choosing and released into the woods.

For the uncomplaining David (Colin Farrell), the choice is simple: as someone who loves the ocean and hopes for a life of longevity, he’s decided to become a lobster. For other hotel guests though, the race against time leaves them frantically searching to find love among their fellow outcasts through increasingly desperate means.

When David escapes the hotel and finds a rebellious, anti-relationship group living in the woods, he discovers that fitting in with them may leave him lonelier than ever. Full of whip-smart social commentary, THE LOBSTER is a dream-like science fiction romance that is equal parts tongue-in-cheek humour and suspense.
