Barbara Tuttle (Jill St. John) is heiress to the Tuttle Department Store fortune. When she falls in love and gets engaged to Norman Phiffier (Jerry Lewis), a dog walker well below her social stature, her mother employs him in one of her stores. But there’s one catch: she gives him impossible and outrageous tasks to prove to Barbara he is not worthy of her love. But Barbara has a secret of her own: Norman doesn’t know she’s an heiress, or that he’s taking a test to win the girl of his dreams.
Originally released the same year as his classic The Nutty Professor, Jerry Lewis reunites with former Looney Tunes animator Frank Tashlin for a slapstick live-action comedy that plays like a cartoon.
