Long-time theatre director Layne Coleman’s first feature film, The Shape Of Rex weaves the tale of a teenage love affair that rekindles when ex-lovers meet up again in their late thirties.

The film follows Rex (Ryan Hollyman) and Rose (Monica Dottor), though their love story in the present day, as well as their burgeoning love affair that began in the 1980s. With the star-crossed lovers pulled apart by a protective father, marriage to other people, and a secret from the past, The Shape of Rex is a dramatic, and lovingly told story of a relationship in the blush of youth—and how years and age can change the very makeup of an idealized love once thought to be unbreakable.

Shot in Saskatoon, Sask., The Shape of Rex is as much a love letter to the beauty of that Canadian city as it is about a love story between two of its citizens.
