Should there be a limit on forgiveness?

Joshua Milton Blahyi – aka General Butt Naked – was one of the most feared, ruthless and psychopathic warlords in Liberia’s horrific 14-year civil war, and he and his troops are said to have killed and brutalized tens of thousands of men, women and children. In 1996 he renounced his past, declared himself “forgiven” and reinvented himself as a Christian evangelist. He now seeks out his victims and personally begs for forgiveness.

Dubbed “General Butt Naked” due to his preference for fighting with nothing more than an AK-47 and a pair of leather shoes, Blahyi attributes his success to his ability to summon evil supernatural beings that made him impervious to bullets. Documentarians Eric Strauss and Daniele Anastasion tracked Blahyi's often troubling path for 5 years, and the result, THE REDEMPTION OF GENERAL BUTT NAKED challenges viewers to confront hard questions about the power and limits of forgiveness in a nation searching for healing and justice. Liar or madman, charlatan or genuine repentant, you will never meet another character as challenging as General Butt Naked.
