18A - Sexual Content
BRILLIANTLOVE is the most erotic, poetic and chemically charged love story in the festival this year. Taking place during a Northern England summer, the film follows Manchester, a novice photographer, and his girlfriend Noon, a taxidermist. Completely detached from the outside world, living in a garage that has been converted into a flat, Manchester spends his time documenting his love for Noon, capturing their most private, sexual moments on camera.
When Manchester accidentally leaves the photos behind at a bar, they wind up in the hands of wealthy pornographer Franny. Enamored by the found photos and seeing an opportunity worth investigating, Franny tracks Manchester down with the hopes of representing him as an artist. While Manchester sees this as an opportunity to share a beautiful love with the world, Noon is more reluctant to reveal their private world, and the two lovers become torn apart. Perfectly cast, and with an energetic pace throughout, Ashley Horner’s feature debut is an alluring, sexually charged story about the nature of eroticism.
